CHONKY BOI: FAT DISTORTION

Chonky Boi is an op-amp based distortion that harkens back to late 80’s distortions. It delivers a wide range of distortion sounds from 80's hair metal meow to light drive purr with three levels of Scratch. Flexible controls mean you’re in charge of the Chonk. Unlike typical distortion pedals, even when high Chonk (gain) and Scratch settings are used, the fatness remains. The Chonky Boi brings enough heft to overdrive the input of your amp enabling stacked chonk.
Chonky Boi draws inspiration from two classic op-amp distortion circuits: the iconic ProCo RAT and the rare Ibanez FC10 Fat Cat — a cult-favourite pedal produced from 1987 to 1990 that was prized for its ability to maintain fat, full tone even at high gain settings. That same commitment to chonk is baked into every Chonky Boi.
Features:
True bypass switching
High quality switches, jacks and potentiometers
Internal 9V battery and external 9V PSU input
LED indicator
Rugged 1590B aluminum enclosure
Controls:
Chonk: a gain (or drive) control that provides progressively variable distortion content, ranging from light distortion to full-on growl.
Heft: adjusts the output level of the Chonky Boi. There is sufficient range (especially at higher Scratch settings) to overdrive the input of an amplifier.
Purr: a high-end cut control ranging from bright to dark.
Scratch: A three-position switch offering different types of clipping (1) germanium diodes (2) silicon diodes or (3) LEDs. Changing Scratch will change the output level so Heft adjustments are necessary when changing Scratch.
Chonky Boi has been carefully fed and fattened to deliver the chonk enabling everything from light drive to MEGACHONK.
